This Week June 1, 2022

Dear Folks,

I hope you all had a pleasant weekend, but also did take some time to remember and give thanks for those who gave so much.

This Saturday, June 4, is our Tag Sale, 9 A.M. to 2 P.M.  Everyone is welcome!

This Sunday, June 5, is Pentecost.  We will be celebrating Holy Communion.  The scripture is Acts 2:1-21.  The sermon is "Refining Fire". The service will be on-site and Facebook live-streamed.

Following Sunday's service, the Sunday School will be hosting an ice cream social in Fellowship Hall to commemorate Robert and Getrude Wilson Sunday, honoring Dairy Farmers.

VALLEY REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT PROJECT (VRRP) - HCCUCC and other organizations and individuals will be partnering to resettle refugee families across the lower Naugatuck Valley.  For a successful outcome, will need at least 30 volunteers from across the Valley. Volunteers are required to take 3 – 2-hour online training sessions. Tasks would include (but not limited to) teaching English as a second language, driving to appointments, setting up housing, getting supplies, and teaching driving skills. If you have any questions, please contact: Bob Margolies at 203-400-1769 or email: margolies@mac.com.

Our Church Auction will be held on Saturday, June 18.  Material is in the Alcove or contact Linda Sember.

The Valley Food Bank at Spooner House is in need of these items: shelf stable milk and powdered milk, pancake mix and syrup, peanut butter and jelly, canned fruit and applesauce, garbanzo and navy beans, canned tuna and chicken, oatmeal and other cereals, and pasta sauce.  There is a box in the Alcove and also the "wishing well" in Fellowship Hall for your donations.  Please be generous!

Please continue to support HCCUCC with your contributions.  Now more than ever, our mission of being the beacon of love and light on the Huntington Green and beyond is vital. Contributions sent in by mail are welcome. Please consider donating at our website, www.huntingtonucc.org. Electronic Fund Transfer giving is also available. Please email the church, hcc@snet.net if you would like a form to set that up. Any way you give is a blessing and is greatly appreciated.

Let us pray.  O God, gather us close in your care as the troubles of the world often overwhelm us.  Remind us again of our oneness with one another and with you.  Amen.

In Christ's love,
Rev. Lucille
