Dear Folks,

The last few days have been difficult ones for some of our brothers and sisters in our country and in our world.  We hold Baltimore in our prayers, asking for a sense of peace and calm.  We also hold Nepal in our prayers as they deal with the devastating earthquake, so much destruction, so much loss of life.  If you feel so led, you may help monetarily:

1. Make a gift payable to HCCUCC marked for Nepal Earthquake and put it in the offering plate.
OR
2. Send gifts, payable to United Church of Christ and marked in the memo portion Nepal Earthquake, to United Church of Christ, Wider Church Ministries, Financial Services - 6th Floor, 700 Prospect Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44115.
OR
3. Make a secure on-line donation to: https://unitedchurchofchrist.nationbuilder.com/international_emergency_relief_fund.  Please note: Nepal Earthquake in the comment section.

Already, the United Church of Christ is aiding in alleviating the suffering.

This Saturday, May 2, starting at 9 A.M. is our Spring Clean Up for the church grounds. Come on out and help us spruce the place up! Coffee and donuts will be provided.

The scripture for this Sunday is John 10:11-18.  The sermon is "One Flock".  Soren Ibsen will also be sharing what he did with the "Pay It Forward" 50 dollars.

Following our worship service this on Sunday, we will head out for a "Prayer Walk".  We will take a stroll down Church and Huntington Streets, starting and ending with prayer.  Following the walk, we will head to "Sassafras" for lunch.

A reminder that the 7th Annual Treasures, Talents and Tastes Auction is coming up on Saturday, May 16th, 6:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.  The auctions that will be taking place are:  Live Auction, Silent Auction, and Bag Auction.  There is a $10.00 per person registration fee. A portion of the registration fee will once again go to support Spooner House and each registrant will receive three tickets for use in the bag auction.  There’s something for everyone: delicious food (don’t eat before you come!), treasures, talents, and services to bid on. A fun way to support our church. If you have any questions, please contact Bob or Linda Sember at 203 929-5853.

Let us pray.  O God, we do pray for the day when we will recognize each other as brothers and sisters, not dwelling on our differences but rather celebrating our sameness as one people, created in Your image.  Praise be to you, O God!  Amen.

In Christ's love,
Rev. Lucille

From the Rev.

I am always amazed at the ways God touches our lives.  Some people refer to them as "God Winks", little things that seem so mundane, yet are when seen in hind sight, are miraculous.

It is amazing what we can see when we open our eyes, when we are fully awake to the miracles of God around us.

Whoever is reading this, I will ask, perhaps even challenge you to pay attention and catch God winking at you.  When God does, let me know!!
