Life Is Amazing

Do Not Be Daunted...

This Week November 23

Dear Folks,

As we come into the holiday season, starting with Thanksgiving, may we not forget what this time is about:  gratefulness, hope, peace, joy, and love.

Please join us tomorrow evening, Tuesday, November 24, 7 P.M. here at HCCUCC for our Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service, sponsored by the Shelton Clergy Association.  The Rev. Amjad Samuel from St. Paul's will be preaching.  The monetary offering will be going to the Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services. Please make checks payable to the Shelton Clergy Association.  The non-perishable food offering will be going to the Valley Food Bank.  Hope to see you there!

This Sunday, November 29 is the First Sunday of Advent.  Our Advent Candle is "the Moonlight Candle".  The scripture is Jeremiah 33:14-16.  I will be doing a "bag message" based on what Debbie Oppel puts in the bag.  We will also be singing a favorite carol of someone's choosing (from the hymnal, PLEASE), so you may want to be thinking about what you would chose.

When I look at all of which I have to be grateful, you folks are at the top of my list.  I feel so blessed and grateful to be your pastor.  May you all have a safe, happy, and thanks-filled Thanksgiving!

Let us pray.  May we give you thanks, O God, not only with our words, but with our whole being.  May our lives reflect our gratitude and praise to you.  Amen.

In Christ's love,
Rev. Lucille

This Week November 10

Hi Folk,

Today is gloomy.  But, refreshing rain is falling to quench our dry earth!  It's a good thing!

This Thursday, November 12 is my prayer day.  If you have any joys or concerns you would like me to raise up, please let me know.

A reminder that this Saturday, November 14 is Philip Jones' Memorial Service at the Shelton Intermediate School.  The Youth Connection will be providing gathering music at 1:45 P.M.  The service will start at 2 P.M.

This coming Sunday's scripture is Hebrews 10:11-14.  The sermon is "Second Chances".

It's coming!  The Pumpkin and Holly Fair is quickly approaching, November 20 and 21!  Sign-up sheets are in the Alcove if you can help out in any way!!  There is also a sign-up if you want pecans or cheese.  Order early!

Tomorrow is Veteran's Day.  Remember to give thanks!  Hug a vet!

Let us pray.  For all those, O God, who have paved the way for us:  the saints, the veterans, the good examples (and maybe even the bad examples), we give you thanks.  Help us to live our lives so others may see the path even more plainly, the path closer to you.  Amen.

In Christ's love,
Rev. Lucille

This Week November 3

Hi Folks,

Hope you are all enjoying our warm Fall weather.

This Sunday's scripture is Ruth 1:1-18.  The sermon is "Setting an Example".

Following worship will be our next Open and Affirming event. We will have a panel of folks whose churches became ONA.  They will share their experience of the process and the aftermath.

The "Pumpkin and Holly Fair" is just around the corner, November 20 & 21!  The signup sheets are now posted in the alcove for those who wish to be a part of the fun! It’s simple--pick what area would interest you and sign up!

Just a reminder that the Memorial Service for Philip Jones will be on Saturday, November 14, 2 P.M. at the Shelton Intermediate School.  The Center Stage Youth Connection will be providing gather music at 1:45.  Please spread the word.

Let us pray.  O God, you are so full of surprises!  Thank you for blessings in disguises, for unexpected gifts, and for working in the most unlikely situations.  Help us always to keep our eyes and our hearts open so we can see you.  Amen.

In Christ's love,
Rev. Lucille
