This Week October 29, 2019

Dear Folks,

May you have a fun and safe Halloween!

This Sunday, November 3, is the Twenty-First Sunday after Pentecost.  We will also be commemorating All Saints' Day and be celebrating Holy Communion.  The scripture is Luke 10:1-10.  The sermon is "Come Down!"

This Sunday we will be taking the Emergency Assistance Fund (EAF) offering which assists people within the HCCUCC and or/ Shelton community who have an urgent, unexpected need for financial assistance. EAF yellow offering envelopes will be available in the pews.

For those who ordered pies and/or cookies from the Huntington Center Nursery School Fundraiser, you can pick up your order on Sunday.

The Pumpkin & Holly Fair is quickly approaching, November 22 & 23.  We need all hands on deck!  If you can help out, there is a sign-up sheet in the Alcove.  Any help is appreciated!

The Shelton Clergy Thanksgiving Interfaith Service will be held on Tuesday, November 26th, 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 183 Howe Ave. Following the service will be a time of refreshment. Contributions of any pumpkin/Fall desserts for all to enjoy would be appreciated. Donation of non-perishable goods will be collected for the Valley Food Bank. Monetary donations will benefit Spooner House.

And, speaking of the Valley Food Bank, it's always a good time to donate food, especially canned meats, fish, and stews.

Let us pray.  O God of all humanity, we pause a moment to remember and to give thanks for the people who came before us as witnesses to your love.  May we continue, in their memory and to your glory, to be that light of love wherever we find ourselves.  Amen.

In Christ's love,
Rev. Lucille

Let us pray. O God, as the rain hides the stars, as the autumn mist hides the hills, as the clouds veil the blue of the sky, so the dark happenings of my lot hide the shining of thy face from me. Yet, if I may hold thy hand in the darkness, it is enough, since I know, that though I may stumble in my going, Thou dost not fall. Amen. (Ancient Scottish prayer)
In Christ's love,
Rev. Lucille
