This Week October 8, 2019

Dear Folks,

Hope you are all keeping warm or cool or whatever with our roller coaster weather!

This Thursday, October 10, is my prayer day.  If you have any joys or concerns you would like me to lift up, please let me know.

This coming Sunday, October 13, is the Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost.  The scripture is Luke 17:11-19.  The sermon is "The Other Nine".

The Neighbors in Need (NIN) offering will be taken this Sunday. NIN is a special mission offering of the United Church of Christ that supports ministries of justice and compassion throughout the United States. One-third of NIN funds support the Council for American Indian Ministries. Two-thirds of this offering is used by the UCC's Justice and Witness Ministries to support a variety of justice initiatives, advocacy efforts, and direct service projects through grants. NIN grants are awarded to UCC churches and organizations doing justice work in their communities.

Please note, Sunday School begins this Sunday!!  Please contact Jenny McCarthy with any questions.

My travelogue on Germany will be evening Sunday at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Come hungry!

Women’s Fellowship Circle Meeting: Wednesday, October 16th  at 7:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall: Ladies, we will have a guest speaker from Living Essential Oils and a Mini DIY night. She will give an overview of how oils can be used and then you will be able to make a foaming hand soap in a take-home dispenser bottle for a small fee. We need to have a head-count for her purposes so sign-up in the alcove or see Sue Lindley.  Please plan to join us for a fun evening!!

The Huntington Center Nursery School is holding an Otis Spunkmeyer cookie dough & Lyman Orchard Pie fundraiser! Orders will be taken until October 18th. Delivery will be November 1st. See any Nursery School Committee member or the office for order envelopes and more information and support our nursery school.

Women’s Fellowship will be presenting a program on Retirement Income Planning on Sunday, Oct. 27, after our service. We have invited Rebecca Miller back as her presentations have been informative and helpful. Feel free to bring a friend! Refreshments will be served. Although signing up is not mandatory, we appreciate you putting your name on the sheet in the alcove so we have an idea as to how many to prepare for. See Denise Wilson or Sue Lindley with questions.

The Pumpkin & Holly Fair will be here before we know it – November 22nd & 23rd. Watch your future bulletins for more information or contact co-chairs: Terri Johnston, Jaqui Olivo, Judy Tucker, Justine Connery. Please do not leave any Santa’s Attic items until after 10/15 so the volunteers have time to catch up. No clothing please-leave them in My Sister’s Place bin in Fellowship Hall.  Thank you.

If you have not already, please prayerfully consider your gift to HCCUCC and return your Faith Promise cards as soon as possible. Thank you for your faithfulness!

Let us pray.  O God, help us to take that big deep breath when we are feeling off kilter. Help us to feel your presence supporting us and strengthing us.  Amen.

In Christ's love,
Rev. Lucille
