HCCUCC This Week April 27

Dear Folks,

Blessings abound on this lovely day!

We sure could use some help this coming Saturday, April 30, at 9 A.M. for our Church Grounds Spring Clean-up!  Coffee and donuts will be provided.

This coming Sunday's scripture is John 14:23-29.  The sermon is "It's Coming".  We will be celebrating the Sacrament of Holy Communion.

I am looking for your favorite hymns for the summer services.  There will be an insert in the bulletin this Sunday, or you can e-mail me your favorites.  Please use the "Pilgrim Hymnal" to respect copyrights.

I sure hope you have this on your calendar!  The 8th Annual Treasures, Talents and Tastes Auction is fast approaching, Saturday, May 7th, 6 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.  If you are unable to attend, please consider using the absentee bidding option.  There are lots great deals to be had!  The action catalogs will available late next week.  Please contact Linda or Bob Sember for more info.

HCCUCC offers its members college scholarships for those who are continuing their education in the fall (not restricted to high school seniors). Please contact the church office for an application form or to have one e-mailed to you. The due date for applications is May 22nd. Scholarships will be presented during the worship service on Graduate Sunday, June 19th.

Let us pray.  O Holy One, keep us ever vigilant to the needs of our world.  Help us to help where, when, and how we can, spreading your love.  Amen.

This Week April 19

Dear Folks,

I do hope you are enjoying this glorious, albeit, windy day!

Congratulations to Laura Salvio, who will be honored at the Connecticut Women of the UCC's spring meeting this Saturday for her faith, work, and commitment.

This Sunday's scripture is Revelation 21:1-6, and John 13:31-35.  The sermon is "Give Me Love, Give Me Peace on Earth".  The hymns for Sunday were purchased at the 2015 Church Auction by Gordon Harris.

This Sunday following worship, the Women's Fellowship is inviting all women for a light brunch and wonderful program.  Do you want to learn techniques to quit smoking, build self- confidence, obtain weight loss, or reduce stress among other things? Then please plan to join us to hear our speaker who will enlighten us on ways to achieve these and other goals.  If you are planning to attend and have not signed up, please contact Sue Lindley ASAP.

Saturday, April 30 is our day for Spring Clean Up on the church grounds.  Come on out around 9 and help spruce the place up.  Coffee and donuts will be provided.

Let us pray.  O God, with all the pain and suffering in the world, we often turn it off, fearing we will be overwhelmed.  Help us to offer that fear to you, to continue to keep the world in our hearts and in our prayers, knowing that prayer makes a difference. Amen.

This Week April 12

Dear Folks,

Hope you are keeping nice and dry on this drizzly day!

This coming Thursday is my prayer day.  Please let me know if you have any joys or concerns you would like me to lift up.  And, please know that I pray for you all!!

This coming Sunday, we welcome Robert Hitchcock as our supply organist.  The scripture readings are Psalm 23 and John 10:22-30.  The sermon is "Green and Still".

I am collecting favorite hymns for the summer services.  An insert will be in the bulletin, or you can contact me directly.  Please choose from the Pilgrim Hymnal for simplicity's and copyright's sake!

Women's Fellowship would like to invite all women of the church and a friend if they would like, to join us on Sunday, April 24th immediately following worship in the library. There will be a light brunch and a presentation on how hypnotism can aid in so many ways - relaxation, weight loss, stress relief, quitting smoking, building self confidence and more.  Please sign the sign-up sheet in the Alcove so we can plan accordingly. We look forward to a fun and fellowship!

Winter is hanging on tenaciously!  But, be patient; the warmth will return!

This Week March 29
