This Week October 3, 2019

Dear Folks,

Crazy weather. Yesterday was almost 90, today it's barely 50. Well, it is New England!

Thank you to everyone who participated in Consecration Sunday. Much gratitude to those who returned their Faith Promises. If you have not done so, please do as soon as possible. Thank you!

This Sunday, October 5 is World Communion Sunday. The scripture is II Timothy 1:1-14. The sermon is "Good Treasure". The Emergency Assistance Fund offering will be taken.

The Huntington Center Nursery School is holding an Otis Spunkmeyer cookie dough & Lyman Orchard Pie fundraiser! Orders will be taken through  October 18th. Delivery will be November 1st. See any Nursery School Committee member or the office for order envelopes and/or more information. Please support our nursery school.

SUNDAY SCHOOL BEGINS SUNDAY OCTOBER  13!  Please contact Jenny McCarthy for more information.

Neighbors in Need (NIN) offering will be taken Sunday, Oct. 13. NIN is a special mission offering of the United Church of Christ that supports ministries of justice and compassion throughout the United States. One-third of NIN funds support the Council for American Indian Ministries. Two-thirds of this offering is used by the UCC's Justice and Witness Ministries to support a variety of justice initiatives, advocacy efforts, and direct service projects through grants. NIN grants are awarded to UCC churches and organizations doing justice work in their communities.

Women’s Fellowship Circle Meeting will be meeting on Wednesday, October 16th at 7:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. The guest speaker is from Living Essential Oils and a Mini DIY night. She will give an overview of how oils can be used. You can then make a foaming hand soap in a take-home dispenser bottle for a small fee. We need to have a head-count for her purposes so sign-up in the alcove or see Sue Lindley. Please plan to join us for a fun evening!!

Women’s Fellowship will be presenting a program on Retirement Income Planning on Sunday, Oct. 27 after our service. We have invited Rebecca Miller back as her presentations have been informative and helpful. Feel free to bring a friend! Refreshments will be served. Although signing up is not mandatory, we appreciate you putting your name on the sheet in the alcove so we have an idea as to how many to prepare for. See Denise Wilson or Sue Lindley with questions.

The Pumpkin & Holly Fair is coming up on November 22nd & 23rd. Watch your future bulletins for more information or contact co-chairs: Terri Johnston, Jaqui Olivo, Judy Tucker, Justine Connery. Please do not leave any Santa’s Attic items until after 10/15 so the volunteers have time to catch up. No clothing please-leave them in My Sister’s Place bin in Fellowship Hall.  Thank you.

Let us pray. O Holy God, thank you for the abundant blessings you have offered us. May we accept them with joy and use them to make the world a better place.  Amen.

In Christ's love,
Rev. Lucille
