This Week October 8, 2024

Hi Folks,

Please continue to keep those in the path of Hurricane Milton and all who are in the midst of disaster areas in your prayers.

This Thursday is my Prayer Day.  Please let me know if you have any joys or concerns you would like me to lift up.

This Sunday, October 13, is the Twenty-First Sunday after Pentecost. The scripture is Mark 10:17-27. The sermon is "Possibilities". It's our final 2024 Outdoor Service.  We will be in the lower parking lot near the kitchen door.  Please be sure to bring a chair and bundle up!  It may be chilly.  The service will be livestreamed on Facebook and available for later viewing on Facebook and YouTube.

We are in our Season of Generosity.  This year’s theme is in keeping with our 300th anniversary celebration: “Let’s Keep Going…300 Years and Counting”. In Gathering Sunday is October 27th.

October 20 is our OPEN HOUSE. We are opening our doors to members, friends, family, and the public to celebrate our 300th anniversary!  Historically dressed Volunteers are needed to be stationed around the building to welcome and inform our visitors. Doors will open to visitors at 2 P.M.  At 3 P.M. Deborah DeMusis and Michael Cretella Jr. will perform a concert of piano duets.  At 3:45, refreshments will be served in Fellowship Hall. Please be sure to invite everyone you know for this fun time!  To volunteer & more info, contact Sue Schmitt.

VRRP is working to settle a refugee family of four in our Valley.  For more info, contact Bob Margolies, rmargolies@mac.com. Thank you to everyone who donated to the latest items needed.  We fulfilled the whole list!

The Valley Food Bank at Spooner House – Items Needed:  Please see the list on the bulletin board in the Alcove for donations. The Blessing Box also needs to be stocked! Please note that our Spooner House Meal is now the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Questions--see Holly or Gerry Fassbender.

Women’s Fellowship is collecting monetary donations for Church World Service Clean up buckets. Checks may be made out to HCC with “Buckets” on the memo line. You can drop your donation in the bucket on Sundays or you can use the on-line option on our website. The need now is especially urgent.

Please continue to support HCCUCC with your contributions.  Now more than ever, our mission of being the beacon of love and light on the Huntington Green and beyond is vital. Contributions sent in by mail are welcome. Please consider donating at our website, www.huntingtonucc.org. Electronic Fund Transfer giving is also available. Please email the church, hcc@snet.net if you would like a form to set that up. Any way you give is a blessing and is greatly appreciated.

Please engage on our social media.  For Facebook, like and follow our HCCUCC page then like, share, and comment on our content.  For YouTube, subscribe to our page and click the bell for notifications then like, share, and comment on our content.  On “X” (formerly known as Twitter), follow our feed, then like and share.  Please also visit our website.  Every click helps get the word out about our church!

Let us pray.  Holy God, may your comfort and strength be with those recovering from and those in the path of disasters at this moment.  Hold them in your care. May you also inspire us to do what we can to help. Amen.

In Christ's love,

Rev. Lucille
