This Week September 24, 2024

Hi Folks,

Well, it does feel like Fall today!

This Sunday, September 29, is the Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost. The scripture is James 5:7-11. The sermon is "Patience, People". The service will be livestreamed on Facebook and available for later viewing on Facebook and YouTube.

Sunday begins our Season of Generosity.  This year’s theme is in keeping with our 300th anniversary celebration: “Let’s Keep Going…300 Years and Counting”. In Gathering Sunday is October 27th.

The Neighbors in Need offering, which we will receive on OCTOBER 6, supports the UCC’s ministries of justice and compassion throughout the United States. This year’s Neighbors in Need theme “Mental Health Justice for All: Mental Health is a Universal Human Right” highlights our God-given right to mental health. Everyone is created in God’s image, and everybody should receive quality mental health care. Please give generously. Envelopes will be available Sunday.  Donations may also be made through EFT via our church website, www.huntingtonucc.org

October 20 OPEN HOUSE. We are opening our doors to members, friends, family, and the public to celebrate our 300th anniversary!  Historically dressed Volunteers are needed to be stationed around the building to welcome and inform our visitors. Doors will open to visitors at 2 P.M.  At 3 P.M. Deborah DeMusis and Michael Cretella Jr. will perform a concert of piano duets.  At 3:45, refreshments will be served in Fellowship Hall. Please be sure to invite everyone you know for this fun time!  To volunteer & more info, contact Sue Schmitt.

VRRP is working to settle a refugee family of four in our Valley.  Please note the donation list in the Alcove. Please help however you can.  For more info, contact Bob Margolies.

The Valley Food Bank at Spooner House – Items Needed:  Please see the list on the bulletin board in the Alcove for donations. The Blessing Box also needs to be stocked! Please note that our Spooner House Meal is now the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Questions--see Holly or Gerry Fassbender.

Women’s Fellowship is collecting monetary donations for Church World Service Clean up buckets. Checks may be made out to HCC with “Buckets” on the memo line. You can drop your donation in the bucket on Sundays or you can use the on-line option on our website. The need now is urgent.

Please continue to support HCCUCC with your contributions.  Now more than ever, our mission of being the beacon of love and light on the Huntington Green and beyond is vital. Contributions sent in by mail are welcome. Please consider donating at our website, www.huntingtonucc.org. Electronic Fund Transfer giving is also available. Please email the church, hcc@snet.net if you would like a form to set that up. Any way you give is a blessing and is greatly appreciated.

Please engage on our social media.  For Facebook, like and follow our HCCUCC page then like, share, and comment on our content.  For YouTube, subscribe to our page and click the bell for notifications then like, share, and comment on our content.  On “X” (formerly known as Twitter), follow our feed, then like and share.  Please also visit our website.  Every click helps get the word out about our church!

Holy God, as the seasons change and time marches on, we praise you for your changeless love and eternal presence.  When all else changes, you are still God; in that we trust.  Amen.

In Christ's love,

Rev. Lucille
