Dear Folks,
I hope you are all well.
Wednesday Night Concerts on the Green continue through August 31. The Vitality Team is once again handing out water as a goodwill gesture to our community. The Men’s Group is also selling hot dogs, so stop by and say hi!
This Sunday, August 21, is the Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost. The scripture is Luke 13:10-17. The sermon is "Overriding Love". The service will be on-site and on Facebook live stream.
VALLEY REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT PROJECT – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! A well vetted and needy refugee family is waiting to find safe haven! Our church's VRRP group has moved forward with full funding, team organization, and potential housing in place! All we need is YOU! We need a few more team members to meet requirements to proceed. For more info, please contact the church.
We are in our Season of Generosity which culminates at our “In-Gathering” Sunday on September 25. Our theme is “What HCCUCC Means to Me”. Please consider thinking and praying on this topic, jot down your thoughts and feelings, and send them to Rev. Lucille to be used in a Sunday service. Thank you!
Clean-up Buckets for Kentucky - Clean-up buckets are needed for the folks who have had their homes devastated by the rising waters. Rather than assembling the buckets here, the Women’s Fellowship is asking for money donations that can be sent to CWS so that they can assemble and then ship these buckets for distribution. Donations in the form of checks may be made out to HCC with “Buckets” on the memo line. You can drop your donation in the basket this Sunday or in the plate on future Sundays. Or you can use the on-line option on our website. The need now is urgent. Thank you for your generosity.
Women's Fellowship is also collecting items for school kits. Items specifically needed are 12-inch rulers, pencil sharpeners, erasers, and single subject notebooks. Examples are in the Alcove, also a box for your donations. Thank you!
CALLING ALL SINGERS! If you would like to sing with Rev. Lucille on guitar once a month, please attend an Organizational Choir Meeting, Thursday, September 1, 7 P.M. in the sanctuary.
The Valley food Bank at Spooner House is in need of these items: shelf stable milk and powdered milk, pancake mix and syrup, peanut butter and jelly, canned fruit and applesauce, garbanzo and navy beans, canned tuna and chicken, oatmeal and other cereals, and pasta sauce. There is a box in the Alcove and also the “wishing well” in Fellowship Hall for your donations. We also have our Blessing Box outside. Donations are welcome for that as well. Please be generous!
Outdoor Worship & Picnic - Sunday, Sept. 11, 11 a.m. at the HCCUCC lower parking lot near the kitchen. The service will be live-streamed. There will be no 9:30 A.M. worship. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks provided; please bring a side dish or dessert to share. Reservations are required. Please sign up by September 4 either in person at Sunday worship (sign-up sheet in the Alcove) or contact the church. The cost is $6 per person or $12 per family. You can prepay or pay the day of the picnic. Wear your HCCUCC T-shirt and bring a chair! Rain or shine!
Please continue to support HCCUCC with your contributions. Now more than ever, our mission of being the beacon of love and light on the Huntington Green and beyond is vital. Contributions sent in by mail are welcome. You can also donate on our website, www.huntingtonucc.org. Electronic Fund Transfer giving is also available. Please email the church, hcc@snet.net if you would like a form to set that up. Any way you give is a blessing and is greatly appreciated.
Let us pray. Holy God, we cannot avoid the troubles in our lives and in our world. When our stress is great and our anxiety is high, may we look to you for comfort, strength, and guidance. Amen.
In Christ's love,
Rev. Lucille
