This Week August 3, 2022

 Dear Folks,

Hope you are enjoying this beautiful day. Keep cool the rest of the week!
Wednesday Night Concerts on the Green run through August 31. The Vitality Team is once again handing out water as a goodwill gesture to our community. Donations of bottled water would be greatly appreciated. Please put it in the Fellowship Hall, marked with “COG”. The Men's Group will also be selling hot dogs. Stop by and say hi!
This Sunday, August 7, is the Ninth Sunday after Pentecost. The scripture is Luke 12:32-40. The sermon is "Don't Be Afraid". We will be celebrating Holy Communion, so please have your elements handy. The service will be on-site and on-line.
Just a reminder that August 14 will be an outdoor service, weather permitting. It's "Favorite Place T-Shirt Sunday".
A big thank you to Aaron Corcino and all who helped with his Eagle Project. He built a blessing box for us to maintain for the community. Non-perishable food items are gladly accepted! Also, built three benches and restored the garden behind the Fellowship Hall. Great job!
The Prayer Nook has been restored in the Fellowship Hall. It's a quiet place for prayer and contemplation. Also, there is a box to put your prayers in if you would like me to lift a prayer up for you.
We are in our Season of Generosity which culminates at our “In-Gathering” Sunday on September 25. Our theme is “What HCCUCC Means to Me”. Please consider thinking and praying on this topic, jot down your thoughts and feelings, and send them to Rev. Lucille to be used in a Sunday service. Thank you!
We still need several more volunteers for the VALLEY REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT PROJECT. If you have any questions, please contact me.
The Valley food Bank at Spooner House is in need of these items: shelf stable milk and powdered milk, pancake mix and syrup, peanut butter and jelly, canned fruit and applesauce, garbanzo and navy beans, canned tuna and chicken, oatmeal and other cereals, and pasta sauce. There is a box in the Alcove and also the “wishing well” in Fellowship Hall for your donations. Please be generous!
Please continue to support HCCUCC with your contributions. Now more than ever, our mission of being the beacon of love and light on the Huntington Green and beyond is vital. Contributions sent in by mail are welcome. You can also donate on our website, www.huntingtonucc.org. Electronic Fund Transfer giving is also available. Please email the church, hcc@snet.net if you would like a form to set that up. Any way you give is a blessing and is greatly appreciated.
Let us pray. O God of the Sabbath, may we all follow your example and take time to rest, just as you did on the seventh day. Amen.
In Christ's love,
Rev. Lucille
