This Sunday, October 31, is the Twenty-Third Sunday after Pentecost and All Hallows Eve.  We will be having a special service, "Honoring Our Deceased Loved One".  Please send me the names of the loved ones you would like to honor no later than Thursday, October 28th.  You can send me them by church email at hcc@snet.net, or by my personal email at revluce23@ comcast.net, or drop it off in our black mailbox which is our office box outside the church. Please note that unless you specifically wish it, I will not be using last names because of the very public nature of our live- stream worship.  Thank you!

 

The Valley Food Bank at Spooner House is running low on food.  Specifically needed items are:  shelf stable milk and powdered milk, pancake mix and syrup, peanut butter and jelly, canned fruit and applesauce, garbanzo and navy beans, canned tuna and chicken, oatmeal and other cereals, and pasta sauce.  There will be a box in the Alcove and also the "wishing well" in Fellowship Hall for your donations.  Please be generous!

 

The 2021 Pumpkin and Holly Fair will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021, 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, November 20, 9:30 a.m.  – 2:30 a.m.  Please watch for a Sign-up Genius to tell us how you can help out this year. Please consider being a part of this church tradition!

 

The Early Riser Open AA meeting will be meeting every Saturday in Fellowship Hall at 7:00-8:00 a.m. with exception of P&H Fair weekend.

This Week October 19, 2021

 Dear Folks,

 

Hope you are having a pleasant week.

 

My prayer day is this Thursday, October 21.  Please let me know if you have any joys or concerns you would like me to raise up.

 

This Sunday, October 24 is the Twenty Second Sunday after Pentecost.  The scripture is Mark 10:46-52.  The sermon is "Take Heart".

This Week October 12, 2021

  

Dear Folks,

 

Hope you are enjoying these lovely Fall days!

 

This Sunday, October 17, is the Twenty-First Sunday after Pentecost.  We will be having an Outdoor Worship in the back parking lot.  Please bring your own chairs.  In case of wet weather, we will be in the sanctuary.  The scripture is Psalm 126.  The sermon is "Restored".  The service will be live streamed on Facebook.

 

Following the Sunday service, from 10ish until 11, there will be a HCCUCC members' tag sale for the items from our Nursery School.  Cash only.  

 

The Women's Fellowship Pampered Chef fundraiser has been extended until October 18.  Catalogs and order forms are available in the Alcove, or order on-line at:  www.pamperedchef.com/party/denisemelsenti1004.

This Week September 28, 2021

This Sunday, October 3, is the Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost.  We will be celebrating World Communion.  Please bring or have your elements ready.  Elements will be available in the church building if needed. The scripture is Mark 10:13-16.  The sermon is "Come to Me".

 

Thank you to everyone who returned their Faith Promise/Pledge cards.  If you have not done so, please do as soon as possible.  Your faithfulness and generosity are greatly appreciated!

 

This Sunday, we will be taking the 2021 Neighbors in Need “Unfailing Love” offering.  This year's offering is focused on supporting organizations and projects that are serving our immigrant neighbors and communities. One-third of NIN funds support the Council for American Indian Ministry (CAIM). Two-thirds of this offering is used by the UCC’s Justice and Witness Ministries (JWM) to provide funding grants to UCC churches and organizations leading justice initiatives, advocacy efforts, and direct service projects in their communities. Envelopes will be available in the alcove.  Donations may also be made through our church website. 

 

Sunday, October 17, weather permitting, we will have an outdoor worship service.  In case of unfavorable weather, we will be in the sanctuary.

This Week September 14, 2021

 

Hi Folks,

 

Enjoy the day...the rain is coming!

 

There may or may not be a Concert on the Green Wednesday evening.  The weather is not looking promising!  If it's on, we will be handing out water and selling hot dogs.  

 

This coming Sunday, September 19, is the Seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost.  The scripture is James 3:13-18.  The sermon is "Pure Wisdom".

 

We are in our Season of Generosity for 2022. This year's theme is “We Are All a Piece of the Quilt”. “In Gathering Sunday” will be September 26. If you are worshiping in person, please bring your Faith Promise/Pledge cards and your quilt piece.  Please keep them separated.  If up are joining us virtual, please send your items via mail.  Thank you!

This Week September 7, 2021



Dear Folks,

 

I hope you all had an enjoyable Labor Day Weekend.

 

There is one more Concert on the Green on Wednesday, September 8.  The Men's Group will be doing hot dogs, and the Vitality Team will be handing out water.  Stop by and say hi!

 

My prayer day is this Thursday, September 9.  Please let me know if you have a joy or a concern you would like me to lift up.

 

Our Outdoor Worship and Pizza Picnic will be held this Sunday, September 12, 4 P.M. at the HCCUCC lower parking lot near the kitchen. There will be no morning worship.  The 4 P.M. worship will be live streamed and followed by a pizza picnic.  Reservations are required so we know how much food to get. Please contact the church office.  The cost us $8 per person or $16 per family.  You can pay the day of the picnic.  The rain date is Sept. 19.  Please bring your own chairs!!

This Week August 31, 2021

 Dear Folks,

 

Hope you are all well!

 

This Sunday, September 5, is the Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost.  We will be celebrating Holy Communion.  The scripture is James 2:1-10.  The sermon is "No Distinctions".    We will be worshiping in person and also live streaming on Facebook, 9:30 A.M. 

 

With the rise of COVID cases, masks are required in the church building for everyone.  Let's keep everyone safe!

 

Our Outdoor Worship and Pizza Picnic will be held on Sunday, September 12, 4 P.M. at HCCUCC, lower parking lot near the kitchen. There will be no morning worship.  The 4 P.M. worship will be live streamed. It will be a pizza dinner.  Reservations are required so we know how much food to get. Please sign up in person on Sunday, or contact the church office at 203-929-1223.  The cost us $8 per person or $16 per family.  You can prepay Dan or pay the day of the picnic.  The rain date is Sept. 19.
