Well, it does feel like Fall today!

 

This Sunday, September 29, is the Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost. The scripture is James 5:7-11. The sermon is "Patience, People". The service will be livestreamed on Facebook and available for later viewing on Facebook and YouTube.    

 

Sunday begins our Season of Generosity.  This year’s theme is in keeping with our 300th anniversary celebration: “Let’s Keep Going…300 Years and Counting”. In Gathering Sunday is October 27th.

 

The Neighbors in Need offering, which we will receive on OCTOBER 6, supports the UCC’s ministries of justice and compassion throughout the United States. This year’s Neighbors in Need theme “Mental Health Justice for All: Mental Health is a Universal Human Right” highlights our God-given right to mental health. Everyone is created in God’s image, and everybody should receive quality mental health care. Please give generously. Envelopes will be available Sunday.  Donations may also be made through EFT via our church website, www.huntingtonucc.org

 

October 20 OPEN HOUSE. We are opening our doors to members, friends, family, and the public to celebrate our 300th anniversary!  Historically dressed Volunteers are needed to be stationed around the building to welcome and inform our visitors. Doors will open to visitors at 2 P.M.  At 3 P.M. Deborah DeMusis and Michael Cretella Jr. will perform a concert of piano duets.  At 3:45, refreshments will be served in Fellowship Hall. Please be sure to invite everyone you know for this fun time!  To volunteer & more info, contact Sue Schmitt.

Women’s Fellowship is collecting monetary donations for Church World Service Clean up buckets. Checks may be made out to HCC with “Buckets” on the memo line. You can drop your donation in the bucket on Sundays or you can use the on-line option on our website. The need now is urgent.

Dear Folks,

 

Happy September!  It's officially Pumpkin Spice season!!

 

CALLING ALL SINGERS!  Will be having a choir planning and practice on Thursday, September 5th at 7 P.M. in the Sanctuary. All are invited, no prior experience necessary!  Contact Rev. Lucille for more details.

 

This Sunday, September 8th at 11 A.M. is our 300th Anniversary Celebration Outdoor Worship & Picnic in the HCCUCC lower parking lot near the kitchen. The service will be live-streamed.  There is no 9:30 A.M. service. The scripture is Mark 7:31-37. The sermon is "Ephphatha". Following the service is our picnic. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks provided; please bring a side dish or dessert to share. Reservations are required.  Please contact Sue Schmitt ASAP. The cost is $6 per person or $12 per family.  You can pay the day of the picnic. Wear your HCCUCC T-shirt and bring a chair! Rain or shine!

There is one more evening Concert on the Green, this Wednesdays at 7 p.m. The Vitality Team will be handing out water and the Men's Group will be selling hotdogs. Thank you to everyone who donated water and helped out!
This Sunday, September 1, is the Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost. The scripture is Romans 5:1-5. The sermon is "What Is Hope?". This sermon is the 2024 Auction sermon for David Beardsley. We will be celebrating Holy Communion, so be sure to have your elements ready. The service will be livestreamed on Facebook and available for later viewing on Facebook and YouTube.
The Anniversary Committee will be meeting following the service.

Continued prayers for those people and communities ravaged by the recent flooding. Let's think of how we may help!

Hope you all have your electricity back and are doing well.  Looks like we have more dicey weather coming, so take care!

 

This Thursday, August 8, is my Prayer Day.  If you have any joys or concerns you would like me to lift up, please let me know.

 

This Sunday, August 11, is the Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost.  Our service will be outdoors.  Please bring a chair and wear a T-shirt of somewhere you have been.  In case of rain or very hot weather, we will be in the sanctuary.  The scripture is Ephesians 4:25-5:2. The sermon is "Behave Yourself".  The service will be livestreamed on Facebook and available for later viewing on Facebook and YouTube.

 

The Wednesday evening Concerts on the Green continue on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. The Vitality Team will be handing out water and the Men's Group will be selling hotdogs.  Thank you to everyone who donated water.  We are good for the rest of the season!! 

 

Woman's Fellowship will be collecting items for Church World Service School Kits during August. Needed are 70-count spiral notebooks. Also, we will be collecting new backpacks for local students in need. There will be a box for donations in the alcove. Questions? See Lois Ricker.
