Dear Folks,
Hope you are all safe and warm on this snowy day. It is beautiful!
Tomorrow, besides being Valentine's Day, is the beginning of our Lenten Season, Ash Wednesday. The Ash Wednesday Service will be held at 7 P.M. that evening. It will be on-site and live-streamed. I will send out the bulletin later today. If there is an issue with the weather, I will send out an announcement in the afternoon tomorrow that it will live-stream only. But we will be in the sanctuary as of now.
This Sunday, February 18, is going to exciting!! It's our 300th Anniversary Historical Service. It's going to be very different from our normal Sunday service as it will approximate what 1724 worship may have been like. The music is very different. If you were not able to attend the music practice on Sunday, it is available on Facebook and YouTube for a sneak peek.
A number of folks will be dressing in 1700's style, but that is not at all a requirement. As with all of our services, come as you are!
Following the service, Fellowship Hour will have goodies that were available in 1724. Don't worry! They will be yummy!
Women’s Fellowship will be preparing Manhattan and New England Clam Chowder and a variety of homemade breads. To place your order, sign up on the sheet in the alcove or call the church office. Pick-ups will be on Sunday, February 18th and Sunday, March 24th. Chowder is $12.00 per quart. The prices of the homemade breads vary.
Women’s Fellowship will hold their Annual Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner on Sunday, March 17th at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children 10 and under. Hot dog dinners: two hot dogs w/vegetables are $10 and one hot dog w/chips is $4.00. Tickets will be on sale after church, or you may contact the church office. Proceeds will benefit the church’s Operating Budget.
The Valley Food Bank at Spooner House – There is a list of needed items in the Alcove. Please pick up a copy. Please use the box in the Alcove for donations. The Blessing Box also needs to be stocked, but during the winter, please do not put canned or jarred items, only things that won’t freeze. Please note that our Spooner House Meal is now the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Questions—see Holly or Gerry Fassbender.
FUNDS FOR CLEAN-UP BUCKETS NEEDED - Women’s Fellowship is collecting monetary donations for Church World Service Clean up buckets. Checks may be made out to HCC with “Buckets” on the memo line. You can drop your donation in the bucket on Sundays or you can use the on-line option on our website. The need now is urgent.
Please continue to support HCCUCC with your contributions. Now more than ever, our mission of being the beacon of love and light on the Huntington Green and beyond is vital. Contributions sent in by mail are welcome. Please consider donating at our website, www.huntingtonucc.org. Electronic Fund Transfer giving is also available. Please email the church, hcc@snet.net if you would like a form to set that up. Any way you give is a blessing and is greatly appreciated.
Let us pray. O God, the beauty of this snowy day is so evident when we stop and take a look. And as the snow blankets the earth, you blanket us with with your love and grace. Thank you. Amen.
Happy Valentine's Day! Blessed Lent!
In Christ's love,
Rev. Lucille
