This Week April 26, 2022

 Dear Folks,

Even when the skies are cloudy, the sun still shines!

This Sunday, May 1, is the Third Sunday of Easter.  We will be celebrating Holy Communion, so be sure to have your elements handy.  The scriptures are Acts 9:1-20 and John 21: 1-19.  The sermon is "Feed and Tend".  The 9:30 a.m. service is on-site and Facebook live-streamed.

VALLEY REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT PROJECT - HCCUCC and other organizations and individuals will be partnering to resettle refugee families across the lower Naugatuck Valley. Our HCCUCC members, Bob & Deb Margolies and Gordon & Linda Harris are on the Steering Committee. To make the project a success, we will need at least 30 volunteers from across the Valley. Volunteers are required to take 3 – 2-hour online training sessions. Tasks would include (but not limited to) teaching English as a second language, driving to appointments, setting up housing, getting supplies, and teaching driving skills. HCCUCC will be hosting an orientation meeting on May 15 at 1:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. If you have any other questions in the meantime, please contact Bob Margolies.

Community Tag Sale: Women’s Fellowship will again be holding our annual tag sale on June 4 (rain date June 11). You are welcome to have your own space or donate items to the church table. Please note that we cannot take items yet, and they may not be dropped off in Reuman House. As the time gets closer, there will be information on where and when to do this. Until then, please consider us as you do any spring clean-out!

SAVE THE DATE:  CHURCH AUCTION JUNE 18!

The Valley Food Bank at Spooner House is in need of these items: shelf stable milk and powdered milk, pancake mix and syrup, peanut butter and jelly, canned fruit and applesauce, garbanzo and navy beans, canned tuna and chicken, oatmeal and other cereals, and pasta sauce.  There is a box in the Alcove, also the "wishing well" in Fellowship Hall for your donations.  Please be generous!

Please continue to support HCCUCC with your contributions.  Now more than ever, our mission of being the beacon of love and light on the Huntington Green and beyond is vital. Contributions sent in by mail are welcome. Please consider donating at our website, www.huntingtonucc.org. Electronic Fund Transfer giving is also available. Please email the church, hcc@snet.net if you would like a form to set that up. Any way you give is a blessing and is greatly appreciated.

Let us pray.  As the days pass and we move further away from Easter day, may we remember that every moment can be a new Easter, filled with new live and new possibilities.  Amen.

In Christ's love,
Rev. Lucille
