Dear Folks,
I would venture to say all of us remember exactly where we were 17 years ago on this day. Please, let us all take a moment to remember and to honor those who were lost on September 11, 2001. May God continue to bring healing and hope.
A BIG thank you for the wonderful Leadership Retreat we had this past Saturday! I am so appreciative for the spirit and commitment folks brought to the table.
Another BIG thank you to Aaron and Hannah Corcino for sharing their musical talents with us on Sunday. And, wasn't it great to have James back?! Blessings abound!
This coming Sunday, September 16, is our Outdoor Worship and Church Picnic. It will be held at Pemberley (the parsonage) at 11 A.M. rain or shine! Please note the time! There will be no service at the church building. If you have not already registered, please drop an email, give a call, or just show up! We ask for $5 per person, $10 per family to defray the cost of the burgers, hot dogs, and buns. You can pay that day!! So, bring a chair or a blanket, and a dish to pass. It's always a great time!!
The scripture for Sunday is Mark 8:27-38. The sermon is "Who are you, Jesus?"
Please join us for the SAFETY SEMINAR following worship next Sunday, September 23. A program developed by the CT State Police who will be presenting along with Lt. Kozlowsky of the Shelton Police Dept. for our congregation. Please plan on joining us for this informative program followed by a question & answer period. We hope to see you there.
There will be a meeting of potential Confirmands and their parents/guardians following worship on September 30.
HCCUCC will have a booth at Shelton Day, October 7! We would love some extra help! Please contact Rev. Lucille.
Umbrella Center for Domestic Violence Services invites all to join for a candlelight vigil, Remembrance, Healing & Hope, honoring victims and supporting survivors of domestic violence, Tuesday, Oct. 9t, 6-7pm on the Huntington Green. In the event of rain, the vigil will be held in our Fellowship Hall.
The Pumpkin & Holly Fair will be here before we know it on November 16th & 17th. We need your help to make this event a success. Future Belfry articles will discuss the different areas of the fair where volunteers are needed, but it’s never too early to think about how you would like to contribute. Please contact the co-chairs: Terri Johnston, Jaqui Olivo, Judy Tucker, Justine Connery.
Please take note of the poster in the Alcove with suggested items for the Valley Food Bank bin in Fellowship Hall. Of course, all items are gratefully accepted, but the Missions Committee put together a list that attempts to target items that may be needed more during certain seasons or months. The need is great, so please be generous!
Gifts of the Heart School Supplies Needed: HCCUCC Women’s Fellowship will be participating in filling the Gifts of the Heart school bag kits in the spring of next year. Since school supplies are now readily available and reasonable, please help us fill our goal of school kits by donating one or more of the following items: ~ 3 spiral notebooks (70 count) ~1 pair blunt scissors (rounded) ~ 1 hand-held pencil sharpener ~ 6 new pencils w/erasers ~ 1 12” ruler (30 centimeters) ~1 box 24 crayons (only 24) ~ 1 large eraser. Please leave any gifts in the CWS Box in Fellowship Hall.
Let us pray. Help us, O God, to seek your comfort and strength when the days are cloudy and sad. Help us to know that you are the God of all, not just at this moment, but for all of eternity. No one is lost. Amen.
In Christ's love,
Rev. Lucille
