This coming Sunday, October 29, is the culmination of our Season of Generosity, "In Gathering Sunday". Please
bring your "Faith Promise" (pledge) cards with you, as well as your
completed Electronic Fund Transfer authorization forms, if you so
choose.
The scripture on Sunday is Psalm 138.
The "Keeping the Conversation Going..." topic is "How Can I Say Thank
You To God?" We will also be having our HCCUCC: A Year In Review
presentation, which is always fun!! Hope to see you all there on
Sunday!
Our next "LEO" (Let's Eat Out) will be on
Wednesday, November 8 at Barra in the Big Y plaza at 389 Bridgeport
Avenue. We will meet there at 6: 30 P.M. Please sign-up in the
Alcove. If Barra is not open by then, we will meet at the Bull and
Barley, 350 Bridgeport Avenue. Please watch for announcements!!
It’s coming! The Pumpkin & Holly Fair will be here before we know it , November 17th & 18th.
We need your help to make this event a success. Please contact the

Be
sure to mark you calendar for the Shelton Clergy Association Interfaith
Thanksgiving service on Tuesday, November 21, 7 P.M. at the Good
Shepherd Episcopal Church, 182 Coram Avenue. The offering will go to
Spooner House. The imperishable food gathering will go to the Valley
Food Bank.
Let us pray. O Holy One, your love
vaster than anything we could imagine. Yet, each one of us is held
tightly, yet gently in its eternal grasp. Help us to rest in that love;
help us to trust in that love. Amen.

This Week October 17, 2017
Dear Folks,
Feel the chill in the air?
It's sweater weather!
This coming Thursday, October 19,
is my prayer day. Please let me know if you have any joys or
concerns you would like me to lift up.
This Sunday is our third Sunday
in our "Season of Generosity". This weeks topic is: "How
how do we find the needs and then help fulfill the needs of our
community?” The scripture lesson is Luke
10:25-37. Bob Margolies will be offering testimony.
Following worship this Sunday,
Women’s Fellowship will sponsor an All Church event on
“Downsizing” by Denise Melsenti Wilson. All are
welcome!
"In Gathering Sunday" will be on
October 29. Please bring your "Faith Promise" (pledge) cards

will be sending these items out electronically, so you can submit

This Week October 10, 2017
Dear Folks,
I hope you are enjoying the last gasp of summer weather today!
This evening, Umbrella will be hosting a vigil for domestic abuse victims. It will be held at 6 P.M. on the Huntington Green. Refreshments will be served following the vigil in our Fellowship Hall.
Sunday, October 15 is the second Sunday of our Season of Generosity, “Keeping the Conversation Going…” The scripture is John 14:25-27. The conversation topic is: “What Brings Me Peace?” Aaron Corcino will be sharing his Season of Generosity testimony. We will also be handing our our Season of Generosity Faith Promise cards for 2018.
My English Pilgrimage Travelogue will be on this Sunday, October 15 at 6:30 P.M. in Fellowship Hall. Refreshments will be served, so come hungry!
Following worship on Sunday, October 22nd, Women’s Fellowship will hold an All Church event on “Downsizing”. All are welcome!

This Week October 3, 2017
Dear Folks,
It's getting to the point where I
am afraid to look at the news in the morning. Thoughts and
prayers go out to all those affected by the mass shooting in Las
Vegas. How long must we lament this continuing violence, O
God? Deep breath...
Our latest "LEO" (Let's Eat Out)
will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, October 4, 6:30, at Archie
Moore's in Derby. If you plan to attend and did not sign up,
please let me know ASAP so I can make reservations.
This Saturday, October 7, 2 P.M.
at HCCUCC will be the memorial service for Susan Hawley Taylor,
mother of Tom Taylor.
Our Season of Generosity starts
this Sunday, October 8. The theme this year is "Keep the
Conversation Going..." Our conversation starter is "Where do
I feel closest to God?" The scripture is I Kings
19:11-12.
Neighbors in Need (NIN) offering
will be collected this Sunday, October 8. NIN is a special
mission offering of the UCC that supports ministries of
justice and compassion throughout the United States. Envelopes will
be in the pews. Donations may also be made through our
website, www.huntingtonucc.org.
Umbrella Center for Domestic
Violence Services invites all to join for a candlelight vigil
honoring victims and supporting survivors of domestic violence on
Tuesday, Oct. 10, 6-7 P.M. on the Huntington Green. In the event of
rain, the vigil will be held in our Fellowship Hall.
I will be hosting my travelogue
on my summer pilgrimage in England on Sunday, October 15 at 6:30
P.M. Refreshments will be served, so come hungry!

Pumpkin & Holly Fair (November 17 & 18) a success! Future
Belfry articles will discuss the different areas of the fair where
volunteers are needed, but it’s never too early to think

never become apathetic to the suffering around us. May our
prayers be fervent and our actions be peaceful. Help us to
