This Week February 9

Dear Folks,

With all this snow, some people have been saying that the groundhog lied.  But, Phil predicted an early Spring.  He didn't predict what would happen before that early Spring! Cut the rodent some slack!

Times flies.  Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday.  We will be having our Lenten Quiet Hour at 10 A.M. with Barbara Brown Taylor's book, "Learning to Walk in the Dark", each Wednesday during Lent.

The ecumenical Ash Wednesday service will be held at 7 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church on Rocky Rest Road and Long Hill Avenue.

This coming Sunday, February 14th., is Women's Fellowship Sunday.  We will be installing the WF officers.  The scripture is Luke 4:1-13.  The sermon is "Never Alone".

It's also Valentine's Day, so make sure to share the love!!  Of course, we should be doing that everyday, in a kind and Christian way!

HCCUCC will be hosting a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator Training on Sunday, February 21 following our 9:30 a.m. worship service. The cost will be $10. Please sign up in the Alcove or contact the church office at 203-929-1223 if you are interested in attending.

On Sunday, February 21st., we will be taking an offering for Master’s Table. Master's Table Community Meals, Inc. provides a safe, clean, uplifting environment for individuals in need. They offer their guests hope for a better future. Every person who comes for assistance is welcomed regardless of race, sex, age, color, national origin, religious preference, social needs, disability, or income. Master's Table serves the poor, hungry, and the lonely by providing healthy nutritious and appetizing meals to all who come. Free meals are served at the Assumption Church in Ansonia.

The bin from My Sister’s Place is back in Fellowship Hall for you to make your tax deductible donations. It will be there until the end of April. Please fill out the donation form, take your copy and attach or enclose their copy in with your items.

The 28th Annual Bowl-2-Benefit The Umbrella Center for Domestic Violence Services will be held on Saturday, March 12th at AMF Milford Lanes. If you wish to join our Team or would like to make a donation, please see Judy Tucker, Gordon Harris or me.  You can also make a donation at

Let us pray.  O Holy One, as we face the contemplative days of Lent, may we see the way ever more clearly to ever more closely follow your Son in the ways of love, peace, and justice.  Amen.

In Christ's love,
Rev. Lucille
