Well, it does feel like Fall today!

 

This Sunday, September 29, is the Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost. The scripture is James 5:7-11. The sermon is "Patience, People". The service will be livestreamed on Facebook and available for later viewing on Facebook and YouTube.    

 

Sunday begins our Season of Generosity.  This year’s theme is in keeping with our 300^th anniversary celebration: “Let’s Keep Going…300 Years and Counting”. In Gathering Sunday is October 27^th.

 

The Neighbors in Need offering, which we will receive on OCTOBER 6, supports the UCC’s ministries of justice and compassion throughout the United States. This year’s Neighbors in Need theme “Mental Health Justice for All: Mental Health is a Universal Human Right” highlights our God-given right to mental health. Everyone is created in God’s image, and everybody should receive quality mental health care. Please give generously. Envelopes will be available Sunday.  Donations may also be made through EFT via our church website, www.huntingtonucc.org

 

October 20 OPEN HOUSE. We are opening our doors to members, friends, family, and the public to celebrate our 300th anniversary!  Historically dressed Volunteers are needed to be stationed around the building to welcome and inform our visitors. Doors will open to visitors at 2 P.M.  At 3 P.M. Deborah DeMusis and Michael Cretella Jr. will perform a concert of piano duets.  At 3:45, refreshments will be served in Fellowship Hall. Please be sure to invite everyone you know for this fun time!  To volunteer & more info, contact Sue Schmitt.

 

VRRP is working to settle a refugee family of four in our Valley.  Please note the donation list in the Alcove. Please help however you can.  For more info, contact Bob Margolies.

 

The Valley Food Bank at Spooner House – Items Needed:  Please see the list on the bulletin board in the Alcove for donations. The Blessing Box also needs to be stocked! Please note that our Spooner House Meal is now the 3^rd Tuesday of each month. Questions--see Holly or Gerry Fassbender.

 

Women’s Fellowship is collecting monetary donations for Church World Service Clean up buckets. Checks may be made out to HCC with “Buckets” on the memo line. You can drop your donation in the bucket on Sundays or you can use the on-line option on our website. The need now is urgent.

Enjoying another lovely day!

Please take a moment tomorrow to remember those who lost their lives on 9/11 and those left behind.

This Week September 3, 2024

  

Dear Folks,

 

Happy September!  It's officially Pumpkin Spice season!!

 

CALLING ALL SINGERS!  Will be having a choir planning and practice on Thursday, September 5th at 7 P.M. in the Sanctuary. All are invited, no prior experience necessary!  Contact Rev. Lucille for more details.

 

This Sunday, September 8th at 11 A.M. is our 300^th Anniversary Celebration Outdoor Worship & Picnic in the HCCUCC lower parking lot near the kitchen. The service will be live-streamed.  There is no 9:30 A.M. service. The scripture is Mark 7:31-37. The sermon is "Ephphatha". Following the service is our picnic. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks provided; please bring a side dish or dessert to share. Reservations are required.  Please contact Sue Schmitt ASAP. The cost is $6 per person or $12 per family.  You can pay the day of the picnic. Wear your HCCUCC T-shirt and bring a chair! Rain or shine!
