This Week February 27, 2018

Dear Folks,

May you enjoy this lovely day, a harbinger of Spring!

The Deacons will be setting up for our Wednesday Lenten Service this evening (Tuesday).  We could use a couple of strong backs, so if anyone is available at 8 P.M. for about 1/2 hour, please come by the church.  Thank you in advance!

Speaking of the Lenten Service, we are hosting tomorrow evening.  Dinner is at 6 P.M., the service at 7 P.M.  The Rev. Ken Smith is preaching.

Quiet Hour continues tomorrow morning at 10 A.M.  We will be looking at the section, "With Our Everyday Things."

Sunday, March 4, is the Third Sunday in Lent.  We will be celebrating Holy Communion.  We will also be taking the Emergency Assistance Fund offering.  The yellow envelopes will be in the pews.  The scripture is Exodus 20:1-17.  The sermon is "Love in Action".

Shelton native, Rabbi Eliana Falk, will present a program on the Jewish Passover on this Sunday, March 4 at Noon.  The HCCUCC Deacons will host a brunch following worship preceding the presentation.  Please call the church office to reserve your seat!

Women’s Fellowship will be preparing Manhattan and New England Clam Chowder and a variety of homemade breads. To place your order, sign up on the sheet in the alcove or call the church office at 203 929-1223.  Pick-up will be on Sunday, March 25th. Chowder is $10.00 per quart. The prices on the homemade breads vary.

We will do not have a Team this year in the 30th Annual Bowl-2-Benefit The Umbrella Center for Domestic Violence but we will be collecting for those who would like to donate to this event during worship service on Sunday, March 11th.  Please make checks out to Huntington Congregational Church with Bowl to Benefit in the memo.

Women’s Fellowship will hold their Annual Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner on Saturday, March 17th at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $13 for adults and $8 for children 10yrs. old and under. Hot dog dinners: two hot dogs w/vegetables are $8 and one hot dog w/chips is $4.00. Tickets will be on sale after church or you may see Karen in the office.

Women's Fellowship is collecting items for Church World Service Kits now through April 8th. A full list of these Items can be found on the CWS table in Fellowship Hall. Also, your donations can be left in the CWS box or Women’s Fellowship box. Please see Laura Salvio with any questions.

The Huntington Center Nursery School will be holding its annual Butter Braid fundraiser. Items will be Braided Pastry & Crisps. Order forms will be available after Sunday worship in Fellowship Hall today and are due by March 11th.

Let us pray.  O God of all creation, may we always give you thanks for the many blessings we enjoy.  Help us to not take anything for granted.  Amen.

In Christ's love,
Rev. Lucille
