Hope you are all dug out AGAIN! Seems we are in a bit of a pattern here. Don't look at the forecast for this coming Sunday! Yikes!

Anyway...

This coming Sunday, February 1, is the Fourth Sunday after Epiphany. We will be celebrating Holy Communion, so please have your elements ready. The scripture is Matthew 5:1-12. The sermon is "Blessed". The service will be live streamed on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/HCCUCC and will be available for viewing on Facebook and YouTube later on Sunday.

THE 302nd ANNUAL MEETING OF THE HUNTINGTON CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH UCC WILL BE HELD FOLLOWING WORSHIP ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2026, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING OFFICERS, ACCEPTING THE 2026 BUDGET, AND VOTING ON USING THE REMAINING MONEY FROM THE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN TO REPLACE THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM IN THE PARSONAGE. SNOW DATE FEBRUARY 8, 2026.

Sunday, February 8 is Women’s Sunday.

New Members’ Class will be held Sunday, February 8 after worship.

Women’s Fellowship is sponsoring a Winter Coat Drive for the Bridgeport Rescue Mission. Please bring new or gently used coats and/or cold weather accessories. Donation box is the Alcove. Share the gift of warmth!

Huntington United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church, Masonicare, and HCCUCC will hosting a series of Lenten Dinners and programs, “Lessons in the Wilderness”. HUMC will be hosting the Ash Wednesday Service on February 18 at 7 P.M. There will be no meal or fellowship time. FUMC will be hosting on Thursday, February 26, and HCCUCC on Wednesday, March 11, both at 6 P.M. starting with dinner then a program. Masonicare will be hosting a program at 7 P.M. at Wesley Heights on Wednesday, March 25. Offering will go to benefit Spooner House. Please make checks out directly to Spooner House.

The Valley Food Bank at Spooner House – February’s giving focus is canned veggies, chicken/beef/vegetable broth, canned fruit, and cooking oils. Please use the box in the Alcove for donations. The Blessing Box also needs to be stocked. We are in winter protocol, so please, no items that can freeze! Our Spooner House Meal is on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Questions? Funds for Clean-up Buckets Urgently Needed – We are collecting monetary donations for Church World Service clean-up buckets. Please make checks out to HCC with “Buckets” on the memo line, then drop your donation in the bucket on Sundays, or use the on-line option on our website.

This Week January 6, 2026

Dear Folks,

Happy Epiphany, the commemoration of the Magi's visit to the Christ child. May we, too, kneel in Christ's presence.

My prayer day is this Thursday, January 8. If you have any joys or concerns you would like me to lift up, please let me know.

This coming Sunday, January 11, is the Baptism of Christ. The scripture is Matthew 3: 13-17. The sermon is "The Heavens Were Opened". Sunday's service will be live streamed on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/HCCUCC.

All women are invited to the Women’s Fellowship Annual Meeting following the service on January 11. After a brief meeting to vote Board members for the 2026, there will be a “Make and Take” program led by an owner of Moss Gardens in downtown Shelton. Refreshment, fellowship, and fun in abundance!

Women’s Fellowship will begin collecting items for CWS Hygiene Kits in January. Many of those receiving these kits are living in temporary shelters or are on the move; therefore, the list of items needed has changed. List is in the Alcove. Note that bandages and towels are no longer needed. There will be a box in the Alcove for donations.
