Hope you are enjoying the lovely day!
This Sunday, May 4, is the Third Sunday of Easter. The scripture is Act 9:1-20. The sermon is "On the Road". We will be celebrating Holy Communion. Please have your elements handy. We are also celebrating Robert and Gertrude Wilson Sunday in honor of dairy farmers. All are invited after the service to the Fellowship Hall for ice cream. The service will be live streamed on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/HCCUCC and will be available for viewing on Facebook and YouTube later on Sunday.
The 15th Annual Treasures, Talents, and tastes Auction will be held on Saturday, May 10th, 6:00 pm in Fellowship Hall. There will be various auction types: Live Auction, Silent Auction, and Bag Auction. There is a $10.00 per person registration fee. A portion of the registration fee will once again go to support Spooner House and each registrant will receive three tickets for use in the bag auction. Registration forms are on the Auction table in the alcove and on our website: www.huntingtonucc.org
Our annual CWS Blanket offering will be on May 11th. This offering provides blankets, tents, and emergency supplies in the wake of disaster. The funds also provide material assistance, education training and small enterprise loans as part of sustainable development programs. You may give in person or online via our website: www.huntingtonucc.org.
Please give generously and help those in need with a gift of hope.
Backpack are needed for Women’s Fellowship’s Back-to-School drive for our Shelton schools. Other wish list items: plastic water bottles, 3 subject notebooks, plastic two pocket folders, pencils.
VRRP is still active and investigating other avenues to bring the family to safety. Please watch for updates.
The Valley Food Bank at Spooner House – There is a list of needed items in the Alcove. Please pick up a copy. Please use the box in the Alcove for donations. The Blessing Box is in need of constant restocking. Our Spooner House Meal is on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Questions? See Holly or Gerry Fassbender.
Funds for Clean-up Buckets Urgently Needed. There are clean-ups happening still from flooding, tornados, and wildfires We are collecting monetary donations for Church World Service clean-up buckets. Please make checks out to HCC with “Buckets” on the memo line, then drop your donation in the bucket on Sundays, or use the on-line option on our website.

This Week April 22, 2025




Dear Folks,

Christ is risen!
On April 26, we will be holding the Second Annual Shredding Event and Food Drive in the church parking lot from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. Rain or shine. Please save your important papers and documents and bring them on that day. The cost will continue to be $10.00 per average box or bag. We cannot dispose of bags or boxes, so you must take them home. Also, no paper clips or metal items can be shredded. We are collecting non-perishable, non-expired food items for the Valley Food Back at Spooner House. A portion of the profits from this event will be given to Bridgeport Rescue Mission. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!

Holy Week 2025


 

This Week April 15, 2025


Dear Folks,

May you feel the presence of God as you walk through Holy Week.

The final 2025 Quiet Hour will be Wednesday, April 16 at 10 a.m. in the library.

On Maundy Thursday, April 17, the Lord's Supper will be at 6:30 P.M. in Fellowship Hall, reservations only. Tenebrae will be at 7:45 P.M. in the Sanctuary. All are invited.

The Good Friday, April 18 service will be at noon. Both the Tenebrae and Good Friday services will be live streamed on Facebook and will be available for later viewing on Facebook and YouTube.

Easter Sunday, April 20, begins with our Community Easter Sunrise Service, 6 A.M. and Jones Family Farm. The scripture is Mark 16:1-8. The homily is "Pick Your Own Adventure". I will be preaching.

Our 9:30 A.M. Easter service at HCCUCC will include our Choir and Sacred Dancers. The scripture is John 20:1-8. The sermon is "Called by Name". The service will be live streamed on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/HCCUCC and will be available for viewing on Facebook and YouTube later on Sunday.

The final 2025 Shelton Community Lenten Dinner & Devotions will be held on Wednesdays, April 9 at First United Methodist Church. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. followed by devotions at 7 p.m. The theme is "Unified in Hope". The offering will go to Spooner House. Please write checks directly to Spooner House.
My prayer day is this coming Thursday, April 10. Please let me know if you have any joys or concerns you would like me to lift up.
WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP will meet on Thursday, April 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the lower level of FH to pack CWS Health & School kits.
This Sunday, April 13, is Palm Sunday. The scripture is Isaiah 43:15-21. The sermon is "Make a Way". The service will be live streamed on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/HCCUCC and will be available for viewing on Facebook and YouTube later on Sunday.
The deadline for Easter Flowers is April 13. Please make sure you have your orders in!
Holy Week Services: Maundy Thursday, April 17 - Lord's Supper at 6:30 p.m. (reservations required). Tenebrae at 7:45 p.m. Good Friday, April 18 - Friday Service at noon. Happy April!

This Sunday, April 6, is the Fifth Sunday in Lent. The scripture is Isaiah 43:15-21. The sermon is "Make a Way". We will be celebrating Holy Communion, so please have your elements handy. Choir will be practicing before worship on April 6 & 13 at 9 a.m. Sacred Dance will be practicing after worship on April 6 & 13. Both will practice starting at 8:45 a.m. on Easter.
April 6 is Pot Pie Day! Spooner House can use pot pies for their residents, so we are asking for frozen pot pie donations. Please bring them to church and we will make sure to bring them to Spooner House. Please be generous.
Women's Fellowship will be packing Church World Service school and health kits Sunday, April 6, at 7 p.m. downstairs in the Fellowship Hall. Help is appreciated!
