This Sunday, February 2, is the Fourth Sunday after Epiphany. The scripture is Luke 4:21-20. The sermon is "Take Another Look". We will be celebrating Holy Communion, so be sure to have your elements handy. The service will be live streamed on Facebook at ttps://www.facebook.com/HCCUCC and will be available for viewing on Facebook and YouTube later on Sunday.

Women’s Fellowship is selling quarts of turkey chili for Super Bowl Sunday, February 9. Deadline to order is February 2.

VRRP is on hold at the present. Please watch for updates.

The Valley Food Bank at Spooner House – There is a list of needed items in the Alcove. Please pick up a copy. Please use the box in the Alcove for donations. The Blessing Box also needs to be stocked. Our Spooner House Meal is on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Questions? See Holly or Gerry Fassbender.

Funds for Clean-up Buckets Urgently Needed – We are collecting monetary donations for Church World Service clean-up buckets. Please make checks out to HCC with “Buckets” on the memo line, then drop your donation in the bucket on Sundays, or use the on-line option on our website.

Spooner House is looking for some extra food for the evening meals this week. They are on cold weather protocol, which means they are temporarily housing more people on top of the regular guest. If you would help out with a carbohydrate side dish, casserole, or vegetable, it would be appreciate. Please contact Spooner House directly: 203-225-0453.
 
This Sunday, January 26, is the Third Sunday after Epiphany. The scripture is Luke 4:16-21. The sermon is "Anointed". The service will be live streamed on Facebook at and will be available for viewing on Facebook and YouTube later on Sunday.

Continued prayers for the those affected by the California wildfires. If you would like, please donate through the United Church of Christ either by check to HCCUCC with 2025 Wildfire Support in the memo, or through our website, or directly through the UCC website, or to any other charitable organization that is helping.

This Sunday, January 19, is the Second Sunday after Epiphany. The scripture is John 2:1-11. The sermon is "Listen to Your Mother". Dan Oliva's auction hymns will be featured. The service will be live streamed on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/HCCUCC and will be available for viewing on Facebook and YouTube later on Sunday.

This Week January 5, 2025

  




Dear Folks,

 

May we all have a hopeful, peaceful, joyful, and loving 2025.

 

This Sunday, January 5, is the Second Sunday after Christmas.  We will be commemorating Epiphany and celebrating Holy Communion.  Please be sure to have your communion elements handy.  The scripture is Matthew 2:1-12.  The sermon is "Lessons from the Magi". For those who will be on-line with us for worship, please have a paper and pen handy.  We will be doing a something a little special.

 

The Emergency Assistance Fund offering will be taken this Sunday.  Envelopes will be in the pews. 

 

From Women's Fellowship: On January 12, after the service, there will be a meeting for all women of our congregation. Following a brief business meeting, we will have a presentation by Nancy, a physical therapist from Griffin on the rehabilitation of the pelvic floor. This presentation will prove to be informative and entertaining and something for everyone on this topic! Refreshments and breakfast goodies will be served. Please join us. Though not mandatory, if you think you will attend, please sign up in the Alcove so we can better plan. Any questions, please see Denise Wilson.
