September 13th and 15th are anniversary celebrations:  my 38th ordination anniversary, and our 16th anniversary together.  Time flies!

 

Our Annual Outdoor Worship & Church Picnic will be held this coming Sunday, Sept. 14, 11 a.m., HCCUCC lower parking lot near the kitchen. The service will be live-streamed.  There will be no 9:30 a.m. worship.  The scripture is I Timothy 1:12-17.  The sermon is "Overflowing Grace". The picnic is immediately following the service. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, & drinks provided; please bring a side dish or dessert to share. Reservations are required.  Contact Sue Schmitt. Cost is $6 per person or $12 per family.  You can prepay or pay the day of the picnic. Wear your HCCUCC T-shirt and bring a chair! Rain or shine!

 

One of the ways we honor the commandments to love God and to love our neighbors as ourselves is to care for those who are hungry and/or unhoused. We can do that by donating to the Valley Food Bank, filling our Blessing Box, and donating to Spooner House. September's focus is canned/shelf stable protein.  Please use the box in the Alcove for food donations. Our Spooner House Meal is on the 3^rd Tuesday of each month. I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend!

This Sunday, September 7th is the Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost.  The scripture is the book of Philemon.  The sermon is "Welcome". We will be celebrating Holy Communion, so be sure to have your elements handy.   The service will be live streamed on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/HCCUCC and will be available for viewing on Facebook and YouTube later on Sunday.

Continued prayers for the Glenn family on John's passing.

 

Late August means that our summer meeting hiatus is coming to an end!  Tonight, the Diaconate will be meeting in the library at 7 P.M. 

 

The last Concert on the Green for the 2025 season will be this Wednesday.  Thank you to all those to helped out with the water and the hot dogs. 

 

The Choir will be meeting to organize for our 2025-2026 music program this Thursday, 7 P.M., in the Sanctuary.  All are invited!

 

This coming Sunday, August 31, is the Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost. The scripture is Luke 14:1, 7-14.  The sermon is “No Matter Who You Are, Or Where You Are…”  The service will be live streamed on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/HCCUCC and will be available for viewing on Facebook and YouTube later on Sunday.

 

Following the service, potential Confirmands and their parents will meet in the library for an orientating meeting.

Dear Folks,

 

I am back from my vacation/continuing education.  Thank you for the time and opportunity. I hope you all have been having a good summer!

This coming Sunday, August 24, is the Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost.  We will be having an Outdoor Worship.  We will gather in the parking lot near the kitchen door.  Please bring a chair and wear a funny T-shirt. In case of rain or extreme heat, we will be in the Sanctuary. The scripture is Like 12:13-21.  The sermon is "More Than Just Stuff".

 

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the CWS Kid's Kits and the backpacks for Shelton schools.  There is still a little time to contribute items.

 

We will be having a choir planning and practice on Thursday, August 28^th at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary. All are invited, no prior experience necessary!  Contact Rev. Lucille for more details.

Dear Folks,

Hope you are all staying cool and hydrated!

Our Vitality Team will once again be handing out free bottled water and our Men’s Group will be selling hot dogs each Wednesday in summer during the Concert on the Green. Donations of bottled water are greatly appreciated! Please put water in the Fellowship Hall or Reuman House and mark it with COG. Also, everyone is welcome to help!

Backpack are needed for Women’s Fellowship’s Back-to-School drive for our Shelton schools. Other wish list items: plastic water bottles, 3 subject notebooks, plastic two pocket folders, pencils.

Women’s Fellowship is collecting items for Church World Service “Kid’s Kits” (formerly School kits), during June & July. Items needed: boxes of 12 colored pencils, 2 pocket folders, glue sticks, round-tip scissors, 70 count spiral bound notebooks, 30 centimeter/12” rulers, hand-held pencil sharpeners, large erasers (not pencil cap), unsharpened pencils with erasers, boxes of 24 crayons. This Week July 8, 2025

Dear Folks,

Continued prayers for the people of Texas who were devastated by the massive flooding. So many lives were lost. If you feel the need to help besides your prayers, here are some giving options: The United Church of Christ, designate "Severe Storms", Church World Service Emergency Clean Up Buckets (offering bucket in the Alcove), and the American Red Cross. The first two options may be given through HCCUCC. Just make sure to designate your gifts either by check or on-line.

The Concert on the Green (Music under the Stars) will be tomorrow night at 7 p.m. on the Huntington Green. The Alpaca Gnomes will be performing. The Vitality Team will be handing out free water as a good will gesture to our community. If you would like to donate toward this outreach, please leave the water Fellowship Hall or Reuman House, marked with COG. The Men's Group will also be selling their famous hot dogs. Really, these dogs are delicious! As always, feel free to help out or just stop by and say hi!

Just a reminder that there is no Concert on the Green (Music under the Stars) this Wednesday. The concert will be on July 3 at Veteran's Memorial Park in downtown Shelton, along with the fireworks. Concerts resume on the green on July 9. Our Vitality Team will be handing out free bottled water and our Men’s Group will be selling hot dogs. Donations of bottled water are greatly appreciated! Please put water in the Fellowship Hall and mark it with COG. Also, everyone is welcome to help in this outreach to our community.

Our Vitality Team will once again be handing out free bottled water and our Men’s Group will be selling hot dogs each Wednesday in summer during the Concert on the Green (Music under the Stars). Donations of bottled water are greatly appreciated! Please put water in the Fellowship Hall and mark it with COG. Also, everyone is welcome to help! The first concert is tomorrow, June 25.  The next will be July 9 then through August 27.

 

The sixth annual F.A.D.E. (Fight Against Drugs Everywhere) 5k walk/run and candlelight memorial will be held on Thursday June 26, 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Shelton Pavillion and Riverwalk. This even was founded by our member, Julie Markarian. All proceeds are to benefit BHCare's Alliance for Prevention and Wellness.  

 

This Sunday, June 29, is the Third Sunday after Pentecost. It will be an Outdoor Service.  We will gather in the parking lot near the kitchen door.  Please bring a chair and wear an inspirational T-shirt. The sixth annual F.A.D.E. (Fight Against Drugs Everywhere) 5k walk/run and candlelight memorial will be held on Thursday June 26, 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Shelton Pavillion and Riverwalk. This even was founded by our member, Julie Markarian. All proceeds are to benefit BHCare's Alliance for Prevention and Wellness.  

Church World Service Kid’s Kits: Women’s Fellowship will be collecting items for “Kid’s Kits” (formerly School kits), during June & July. The following are needed: boxes of 12 colored pencils, 2 pocket folders, glue sticks, round-tip scissors, 70 count spiral bound notebooks, 30 centimeter/12” rulers, hand-held pencil sharpeners, large erasers (not pencil cap), unsharpened pencils with erasers, boxes of 24 crayons.  The donation box is in the Alcove. Backpack are needed for Women’s Fellowship’s Back-to-School drive for our Shelton schools. Other wish list items: plastic water bottles, 3 subject notebooks, plastic two pocket folders, pencils.  The donation box is in the Alcove.

The Valley Food Bank at Spooner House – There is a list of needed items in the Alcove.  Please pick up a copy. Please use the box in the Alcove for donations. The Blessing Box is in need of constant restocking. Our Spooner House Meal is on the 3^rd Tuesday of each month. Funds for Clean-up Buckets Urgently Needed.  There are clean-ups happening still from flooding, tornados, and wildfires We are collecting monetary donations for Church World Service clean-up buckets. Please make checks out to HCC with “Buckets” on the memo line, then drop your donation in the bucket on Sundays, or use the on-line option on our website.

Please continue to support HCCUCC with your contributions.  Now more than ever, our mission of being the beacon of love and light on the Huntington Green and beyond is vital. Great weather...for ducks!

My prayer day is this coming Thursday, June 12. Please let me know if you have any joys or concerns you would like me to share.

This Sunday, June 15, is Trinity Sunday. Happy Faither's Day! It's also our Graduate Sunday! We will be honoring our grads and handing out scholarships. The scripture is Proverbs 8:1-4, 22-31. The sermon is "Wisdom Cries Out". The service will be live streamed on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/HCCUCC and will be available for viewing on Facebook and YouTube later on Sunday.

Our Vitality Team will once again be handing out free bottled water and our Men’s Group will be selling hot dogs each Wednesday in summer during the Concert on the Green (Music under the Stars).
