This Week September 2, 2025
Dear Folks,
I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend!
This Sunday, September 7th is the Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost. The scripture is the book of Philemon. The sermon is "Welcome". We will be celebrating Holy Communion, so be sure to have your elements handy. The service will be live streamed on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/HCCUCC and will be available for viewing on Facebook and YouTube later on Sunday.
Our Annual Outdoor Worship & Church Picnic will be held on Sunday, Sept. 14, 11 a.m., HCCUCC lower parking lot near the kitchen. The service will be live-streamed. There will be no 9:30 a.m. worship. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, & drinks provided; please bring a side dish or dessert to share. Reservations are required. Sign-up in the Alcove or contact Sue Schmitt. Cost is $6 per person or $12 per family. You can prepay or pay the day of the picnic. Wear your HCCUCC T-shirt and bring a chair! Rain or shine!
WEDNESDAY EVENING BIBLE SURVEY will resume on September 10th and run through October 22nd, 7 p.m., via ZOOM. We will be looking at the New Testament. The link will be sent out with the “This Week” email. No booklet? See Rev. Lucille.
One of the ways we honor the commandments to love God and to love our neighbors as ourselves is to care for those who are hungry and/or unhoused. We can do that by donating to the Valley Food Bank, filling our Blessing Box, and donating to Spooner House. There is a list of needed items in the Alcove. Please use the box in the Alcove for food donations. Our Spooner House Meal is on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Questions? See Holly or Gerry Fassbender.
Floods, fires, earthquakes are a reality. So many people are picking up the pieces of their lives after such disasters. Another way we love our neighbor is to make monetary donations for Church World Service clean-up buckets. Please make checks out to HCC with “Buckets” on the memo line, then drop your donation in the bucket on Sundays, or use the on-line option on our website.
Please continue to support HCCUCC with your contributions. Now more than ever, our mission of being the beacon of love and light on the Huntington Green and beyond is vital. Contributions sent in by mail are welcome. Please consider donating at our website, www.huntingtonucc.org. Electronic Fund Transfer giving is also available. Please email the church, hcc@snet.net if you would like a form to set that up. Any way you give is a blessing and is greatly appreciated.
Please engage on our social media. For Facebook, like and follow our HCCUCC page then like, share, and comment on our content. For YouTube, subscribe to our page and click the bell for notifications then like, share, and comment on our content. We have to feed the hungry algorithm! Please also visit our website. Every click helps get the word out about our church!
Let us pray. O God, you created us to enjoy the variety of life: the work, the play, and the rest. May we balance it all, keeping you as the center. Amen.
In Christ's love,
Rev. Lucille

Let us pray. O God, when the world seems so filled with hate, let us be love. When the rattling of swords grows deafening, let us be peace. When the love of power overshadows the love of humanity, let us be compassion. We do this in Christ's name. Amen.
