This Week March 28, 2023

Dear Folks,

I hope you find a bright spot in this otherwise dreary day!

This coming Sunday, April 2, is the Palm Sunday.  The scripture is Matthew 21:1-11.  The sermon monologue is "Walking Along with Jesus".  We will be celebrating Holy Communion, so be sure to have your elements handy.

Please note our Holy Week schedule:  Maundy Thursday, Tenebrae at 7:45.  Good Friday, April 7 - service at noon.  Easter, April 9 - Sunrise Service at 6:15 a.m. Jones Family Farm, service at HCCUCC 9:30 a.m.  Tenebrae, Good Friday service, and 9:30 a.m. Easter service will be Facebook live-streamed; links will be sent out later.

We are so pleased to have our lovely Syrian family in our Valley and settled into their apartment in Derby. Thank you to all who make this possible! Continued support with your time, talents, and treasures is greatly appreciated!

SAVE THE DATE:  13th Annual Auction -- Saturday, May 13th 6:00 PM in Fellowship Hall!  More information is in the April "Belfry" and in the Alcove!

Funds for Clean-up Buckets Needed - Women’s Fellowship is collecting monetary donations for Church World Service Clean up buckets. Checks may be made out to HCC with “Buckets” on the memo line. You can drop your donation in the bucket on Sundays or you can use the on-line option on our website. The need now is urgent.

The Valley Food Bank at Spooner House - Items Needed: shelf stable milk and powdered milk, pancake mix and syrup, peanut butter and jelly, canned fruit and applesauce, garbanzo and navy beans, canned tuna and chicken, oatmeal and other cereals, and pasta sauce.  There is a box in the Alcove for donations. Also, our Blessing Box needs to be stocked, but during the winter, please do not put canned or jarred items, only things that won’t freeze. Please be generous!

Please continue to support HCCUCC with your contributions.  Now more than ever, our mission of being the beacon of love and light on the Huntington Green and beyond is vital. Contributions may be sent to the church through mail or please consider donating on our website, www.huntingtonucc.org. Electronic Fund Transfer giving is also available. Please email the church, hcc@snet.net if you would like a form to set that up. Any way you give is a blessing and is greatly appreciated.

Let us pray.  O Holy One, as we draw closer to Holy Week and Easter, may you give us the strength and courage to walk with Jesus in the way of sacrificial love.  Amen.

In Christ's love,

Rev. Lucille
