February 18, 2018 Sunday School Canceled Due to Winter Storm

Hi Folks,

Due to Winter Storm Oliver, Noah, or Dakota, depending on the news outlet, Sunday School is canceled tomorrow morning.

The Corrone baptism is also postponed until March 11.

Concerning worship tomorrow morning, please watch your email tomorrow morning and/or check WTNH or WFSB.  If you do not see an email or announcement, worship is on. The decision to cancel or not will be made around 8 A.M.

As always, if we do have worship, use your judgement on attending and please err on the side of caution.  We know that roads in Shelton vary wildly in conditions.  Be safe!

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Peace,
Rev. Lucille

This Week February 13, 2018

Dear Folks,

With Valentine's Day and Ash Wednesday falling on the same day this year, I hope you all will be reminded of God's great love for us, in all its human and divine forms.

Lenten Quiet Hour begins tomorrow morning and continues Wednesdays in Lent at 10 a.m. in the church library. We continue with the book, “SIMPLE WAYS TOWARDS THE SACRED” by Gunilla Norris.

Our Ecumenical Ash Wednesday service will be tomorrow evening here at HCCUCC at 7 p.m.  Remember you are dust and to dust you shall return.  If anyone cannot make the service, but would like to receive ashes, please contact me.

My prayer day is this Thursday, February 15.  Please let me know if you have any joys or concerns you would like me to raise up.

February 18 is the First Sunday in Lent.  The scripture is Mark 1:9-15.  The sermon is "Getting Away From It All".  We will be celebrating the baptism of Thomas James Corrone.

Sunday, February 25 is Scout Sunday.

Women’s Fellowship is bringing back Rebecca Miller for a special tax workshop on Sunday, February 25, following our service.   Refreshments will be served and all are welcome—bring a friend!  Sign up is in the alcove.

Shelton native, Rabbi Eliana Falk, will present a program on the Jewish Passover on Sunday, March 4 at Noon.  The HCCUCC Deacons will host a brunch following worship preceding the presentation.  Please sign up in the alcove to reserve your brunch seat!

Women’s Fellowship will be preparing Manhattan and New England Clam Chowder and a variety of homemade breads. To place your order, sign up on the sheet in the alcove or call the church office at 203 929-1223.  Pick-up will be on Sunday, February 25 and Sunday, March 25. Chowder is $10.00 per quart. The prices on the homemade breads vary.

We will not have a Team this year in the 30th Annual Bowl-2-Benefit The Umbrella Center for Domestic Violence but we will be collecting for those who would like to donate to this event during worship service on Sunday, March 11.

Let us pray.  O God, help us to enter this Lenten season with open ears, eyes, and hearts as we seek your presence.  May we greet the end of the 40 days with a renewed faith and commitment to you.  Amen.

In Christ's love,
Rev. Lucille
